The band Brotherhood of Broken Hearts was formed in 2005 by Gustav Sjöstedt and Björn Larsson in the town of Umeå in the north of Sweden. We were eager to try and play some different kind of music, more like indiepop meets electropop, than we had played before we started this band. Björn has played in numerous punk bands and Gustav has done a little of everything. Gustav does all the percussion and synthesised noise while Björn does all guitar work. This however changes from time to time. We mainly write the songs together as a group though.
After doing a few tunes we realized that we needed someone who could actually sing so we contacted a friend of a friend, Arvid Norberg. We liked his singing a lot and he liked the music and so he joined the band. It was really great that Arvid joined the band because he is such a nice guy.
We recorded three tunes in the UpSweden studio in the fall of 2005 and they are free to download from this website. We recorded some new tunes in 2006 and also did a cover of The Dils "I hate the rich" which was featured on the compilation "Wearing our punk rock hearts on our sleeves".
In 2006 Arvid left the band to go work in the states and the band kept a low profile for awhile. Now we have a new singer Anton Gymark and are busy again.
When we make music we try to do the best we can. There is no real goal to sound like this or that band or fit into different genres. As a group we make music to explore our creativity. We also try to make music we ourselves would like to listen to. The only goal for this project is to have fun when we make and play music. And we have a lot of fun when we play together. Hopefully you will enjoy the music as well. If you have the time please drop us a line or befriend us on myspace, we would love to hear from you! It would be great to meet new people!
For the future we hope to keep our singer and play some shows.

Yes the brotherhood will perform this month(mar 27, Klubb Tower Of Songs) at Vinylbaren together with the wonderfull band Stars in Coma. Come one come all!

First Show in over 3 years!
Yes played our first show in 3 years today, and it was Antons first show with BOBH ever! But unfortunately Gustav is on vacation so he couldn't participate. We only played 3 songs acoustic but had a great time. The place was called Oasen and had good food and nice people.
We are officially open for booking again. Send us a mess if you want us to come and play.
The Together Lonely DCUP remix has taken on a life of it's own and has popped up all over the web which is awesome!
We currently have 3 new tracks sent off for mixing. Will put them up soon!

Sorry for the slowish update here. I AM lazy and have had my comp in the basement for awhile. Anywho:
We got a fresh new songs for you to check out called Together Lonely. We have been remixed by this lovely fellow called DCUP. And yesterday we were featured on a free-to-download-compilation over at Eardrums Music. It's called Birdsongs, Beesongs Volume D and is to my knowledge the third compilation we have been on so far. We got a new singer
Yes! After almost 2 years since Arvid left the band to go work in the states we found ourselves with a new singer.
His name is Anton and he is a very nice guy with a killer voice. We have rehearsed a few times already and it feels good.
We will soon be ready for gigs so if you are interested in booking us just drop us a line or contact us on our myspace page.

Hello everybody. Just wanted to tell you that we are ALIVE but still have
no singer. Hopefully we will get one soon. COME ON people apply!
Anywho, we would like to mend your heart as a christmas gift this year. Even
though we probebly can't atleast it's a thought. And that is what counts...yeah
yeah

First release!
Our good friends at Yellow Mica Recordings have made a compilation record
which we are on. It's called "wearing our punk rock hearts on our sleeves"
and it is out today! We have made a cover of the Dils song "I hate the rich".
Other bands on the compilation are Boyracer, The Lucksmiths, Hulaboy, The
Tall Boy, Pants Yell!, The Manhattan Love Suicides, The Faintest Ideas, Inspaceno!,
The Young Untold, Emily Jane Powers, The Elks, Jilted Jen, Downdime, Kin,
Bunnygrunt, The Infestations and James Ausfahrt. A total of 18 bands doing
covers of the first wave of punk and hard core songs.
This is our first actual release so we are very happy about it!

Sångare sökes
Vi är ett elektropop/twee band som heter Brotherhood of broken hearts
och vi behöver en sångare. Han som sjöng innan flyttade till
USA för att jobba, men vi vill fortsätta och söker därför
dig som kan hålla en ren ton och vill spela in mycket men även
spela mycket live.
Bandet har funnits sen 2005 och vi har gjort 5-10 spelningar bl.a. på
Trästocksfestivalen och Norbergfestivalen. Vi har varit veckans demoband
på både digfi och indiepages samt skall snart medverka på
en samlingsskiva.
Musiken är electro och indie pop orienterad. Trummaskiner och analogsynthar,
samsas med samplingar och gitarr. Karaktären på musiken är
ganska mjuk men med fart och en stor portion melankoli. Vi söker dig
som har en rak mjuk, men ändå karaktäristisk röst.
Helst vill vi att du har spelat i band tidigare men det är inget krav.
För närvarande är vi ett osignat band med allt som det innebär,
men våra ambitioner är att det skall ändras och är beredda
att lägga tid därefter.
Ett annat krav är att du ska bo i Malmö och inte planera att flytta
därifrån de närmaste åren. Vi har egentligen inga gemensamma
musikaliska inspirationskällor. Det enda band vi båda gillar och
tog avstamp i är Barcelona.

Gustav and me(Björn) are moving to Malmö in the south of Sweden
and sadly Arvid is not comming with us. He is moving to SF early next year.
We will get a new singer and hopefully 2007 will be a blast anyway!

The gig went really well! We are so pleased with the singalong and want to thank everyone that showed up! We have two new songs up now. BOBH and Closer Closer in the music section. We also have another gig on 31 of may at Klubb Pingvin at Studion, Ume Folkets Hus.
